Uff these maids!

Have you noticed that where ever two or more ladies have assembled what is the topic of discussion. Generally  there are three  favourite topics ie(.1.) the maid  (2)sarees and (3) husbands. There are a few more subjects, like children, and  the boss(in the case of working ladies) . But it is the maid who generally takes the precedence.
Just flavour this conversation between a maid  seeking appointment and the lady of the house.,Mrs Ahuja. The maids, these days know their importance, and hence  umpteen conditions are  laid down before they are appointed. A woman in her late twenties is being interviewed. From her appearance she doesn't look like a maid, with all that dark lipstick and a bright sari..  After the initial introduction, the interview continued. The  mistress told her,''You have to reach here by seven o'clock. Immediately the girl replied,''So early!! I get up at seven o'clock.I will reach here by eight.'' As no other option was available, the mistress had to agree. The would be maid asked about the salary. The maid demanded twelve thousand. After heated discussions the salary was fixed at eight thousand per month
Next day, (the first day  of the maid) she arrived at nine 'o clock. When questioned,, she laughed and said that she over slept.  Mrs Ahuja gave her a disapproving look, but the maid walked in , as if she had come too early. As soon as she entered the kitchen, she asked the mistress,''Where is my  tea? All madams  prepare  tea for the maid.'' Now this was
ridiculous. She was waiting for the maid  for tea  but the maid expected her to prepare tea, as if she was a VIP. Mrs Ahuja bluntly told her  that in her house, it was the maid's job.She had already prepared  breakfast  for hubby and the kids. The maid prepared a quick breakfast and said, ''Madam, please switch on the TV. I will watch TV, while I have breakfast. The mistress peeped inside the room. The maid had merrily made herself  comfortable  on the sofa and was enjoying.Mrs.  Ahuja  called her. After half an hour the maid came and told the mistress,''Madam , I will just go the next house. I will wash the utensils and come back fast''. Without waiting for the approval from the mistress, she rushed out. She returned and started cooking lunch. In the midst she would come and stand, narrating some gossip from the neighbourhood. The mistress was not interested, so she would return disappointed to her cooking.
Some how a  month passed away. There was a kitty party in the neighbourhood.  Mrs Ahuja went there. There was all chitter chatter.Suddenly one lady addressed Mrs. Ahuja,'' I  have heard that you have become very serious''. Mrs  Ahuja looked  surprised. The hostess said,''Your maid has been telling every one that you are a very hard taskmaster''.  It goes without saying that  after reaching home, the first thing that Mrs Ahuja did was to dismiss the maid.
A search has started for a new maid.

  1. If this is a true story or even if it's not, the maid deserved to be dismissed the very first day: late, demanding of tea, and the like! ;) <3

    1. The maids take you for a ride, because they know that it is difficult to get a good maid. Many people tolerate their whims.

  2. Oh! The maid woes are never ending! Since they know that we need them to ease our lifestyle, they have learnt to take advantage of it to the fullest.

  5. In 7 years of marriage, I never had a maid and honestly I don't think I will have one unless I am sick and can't do the chores myself. Truth is I don't mind getting a little dirty than putting up with someone else doing the chores for me. I see this maid drama in both my mom's and in-laws' house.

  7. So funny. But I also have many stories about maids. My maid came back today after a 40 day vacation. But, I grinned and bore it. You never know how is the replacement
